Smarter Ventilation for Kilns
Automate Your Kiln Venting Process for Safety and Consistency
- The Vent Control lets you manage the Vent-Sure kiln vent. You can use it with outputs from the Genesis, DynaTrol, and, to a limited extent, the Genesis-Mini.
- For the Genesis or DynaTrol, you set whether the vent is on or off in each segment of a program.
- For the Genesis Mini, the vent control turns on automatically when the program starts. It turns off automatically when the program ends. This occurs at a high temperature, so there is no cooling. However, it will be on when you need ventilation for fumes in the kiln.
How the Vent Control Works
- The Vent Control has a relay. This relay is controlled by output #4 on the Genesis or DynaTrol. The Safety contact on the Genesis-Mini can also control it.
- There is a female 120-volt receptacle to plug the vent into and a cord to plug into a 120-volt wall outlet. (Note: This is not available for 220-240 volts).
- There is a 6-foot wire that connects the control box to the kiln control panel. A grommet is included for non-factory installation.
Where it can be used
- If it is used on kilns with powered bottoms, it must be controlled from the safety output. This is similar to a Genesis-Mini, as the power bottom will use Output #4.
- It is designed for use with one kiln.
- One Vent Control can control between 1-4 vents on a single kiln (if the kiln is large enough for more than one vent).
- The Vent Control is only available for 120-volt vents.
Operation for Genesis 2.0 & DynaTrol
NOTE: These options are set in the "Hidden Menu" in the DynaTrol, and for the Geneis, in MENU / CONFIGURATION / OUTPUT 4 OPTIONS
OPTION A (OP A)
- Output 4 can be programmed to be on or off during each segment of a Vary-Fire program. During an Easy-Fire program, output 4 comes on at the beginning of the firing and turns off after the kiln has cooled to 150F.
OPTION B (OP B)
- Output 4 can be programmed to be on or off during each segment of a Vary-Fire program. Output 4 comes on at the beginning of an Easy-Fire program, off at 1450°F, back on after the firing is complete, the kiln has cooled to 1000°F, and finally off again when the temperature is below 150°F.
OPTION C (OP C)
- Output 4 can be programmed to be on or off during each segment of a Vary-Fire program. Output 4 is off during Easy-Fire programs.
Operation for the Genesis-Mini
- This is all automatic with no configuration options.
