Check Temperatures Around Kiln

  1. Check temperatures around kiln when it is operating at high levels to ensure it is not creating an unsafe condition.
  2. Surfaces that remain below 71°C (160°F) are generally considered safe, meaning they will not spontaneously catch fire. However, prolonged exposure to heat can dry out materials, lowering their ignition point over time.

For safety:

  • Keep surrounding surfaces below 160°F (71°C) during operation.
  • Use heat-resistant barriers (such as cement board) if surfaces may exceed this temperature.
  • Maintain adequate clearances and ventilation to minimize heat buildup.
