Metal Matrix Composites

Many companies that work with metal matrix composites have there own proprietary processes. L&L has worked closely with many companies who manufacture everything from silicon carbide particulate filters to bulletproof armor.

Challenges

Cermets and metal matrix composites can be very expensive to work with. They are also very fragile in the green state and often require long, custom firing schedules that can be hard to calculate.

Kilns

L&L has developed kilns for numerous metal matrix applications. Typically we can alter a current design to accomodate custom applications. We frequently design kilns to house retorts for inert gas atmospheres as well as kilns with removeable bottoms for efficient process turnover. Contact an L&L technician for information regarding these products.
