Can someone buy element holders to use in a kiln they are building and how much do they cost?

L&L has used a lot of different style thermocouples over the years.

With thermocouples there are different TYPES, and within the various types there are different STYLES.

How do I know which kilns have element circuits wired in series and which are wired in parallel?

  1. Mostly you just have to remember how each kiln is wired or look at the wire diagram. Usually in series elements the wire is big and fat, and in parallel elements they are thin.

What does it cost ($) for the electricity to fire the kiln?

The only way to figure this out accurately is to have a kilowatt meter installed in the power supply line.

What is the difference between 220 volts, 3 phase and 380/220 volts, 3 phase (overseas applications)?

  1. If you have 220 volts and 3 phase power available, the kiln will come with a 3-wire powerblock for the 3 hot wires that give the 3 phase.

Why can't you get a Dura-Fire kiln in a 3-phase version?

The Dura-Fire kilns are designed to have all power turned off by the Kiln Sitter/Time. These have a two-pole contactor that can only shut off single phase power.

Do I need a separate electrical line for my kiln?
