Sintering

The sintering process provides the energy to encourage the individual powder particles to bond or "sinter" together to remove the porosity present from the compaction stages. In sintering, the green ceramic is heated to a high temperature, below the melting point of the ceramic, where high rates of diffusion are possible.

Challenges

Sintering can be an involved process that requires accurate temperature readings and hold times. Our Dynatrol controller comes standard with multi-zone control and type K thermocouples. Type S thermocouples are also compatible with the Dynatrol controller. If you are interested in a more robust control option, we can suggest the Eurotherm 2604.

Kilns

Sintering is a process where the shape and size of your product will dictate which kiln suits you best. If you are interested in higher temperatures we recommend the JH series kilns designed to reach 2400 Deg F or around 1300 C. For loading advantages both the Da Vinci Bell-Lift system and the Front-loading kiln with removable bottom allow easier access and the ability to load with a forklift or pallet jack.
