MOST JUPITER KILNS
FIRE TO CONE 10
2350F - 1287C

  • Hot enough to fire stoneware and porcelain.

  • The 18" high J23 and J2918 are only rated to Cone 5. This is because of the greater percentage of unheated surface area in the kiln (i.e. total surface area - which includes the top and bottom - to total heated area). You can oversome this by getting a powered bottom which will raise the temperature rating of the kiln

  • The only other exception is the special model J2927L which deliberately has lower power elements so that it can be used with a 50 amp plug. This is a great kiln for large capacity bisquing where power wiring is a concern.

  • L&L RECOMMENDS GETTING 3" FIREBRICK, HEAVY-DUTY ELEMENTS & INDUSTRIAL THERMOCOUPLE PROTECTION TUBES WHEN YOU ARE PLANNING TO FIRE OFTEN ABOVE CONE 1 (Typically Cone 6 and Cone 10 firings). Not only will the elements work less hard and last longer but the kiln will cool down slower naturally - which is typically an advantage for glaze maturity.
